Introductions
I first want to introduce myself. I am an emerging artist (painter) living in South Western Ontario. I was in law enforcement for almost 20 years before having to retire. I was injured in the line of duty and due to complications and other health issues I had to retire.
I have always had an interest in art and had done several drawings over the past 10 years and I had recently started oil painting and taking painting classes. So when I retired...from law enforcement, it seemed only natural to start painting seriously. Within a year I was selling my art on Ebay. I also invested in a good DSLR Nikon and started selling some of my photographs on Ebay and one of my photos has been published in a Horse Breeds book;

My Art Background
I did complete an art program at the Langara Fine Arts School way back when and travelled and studied art history in Europe. This gave me a great foundation for understanding other cultures and about where my ancestors came from. I can remember flying over Scotland and Ireland for the first time and looking down and getting this feeling deep in my gut that told me I came from this land below me. It was very emotional for me, even as a 19 year old!
Things are done very differently in other places on this planet. We were studying the history of art, from Egyptian times to the modern. It was really about studying human cultures...art was something that just naturally follows us through time.
Traveling to other countries really opens your perspective on things. REally opened my eyes! I would recomend every child, who could, to do this...not just traveling around haphazardly, but really look closely at the places of significant history around our planet. You learn something that is invaluable and a foundation for the rest of your life.
Horses...
One of my main passions is horses. My husband and I have 7 at the moment and 2 more on the way as we have 2 mares ready to foal out in the next 3 weeks. I will post their arrivals as they enter our world!
Do you know what
Ecbatana means? Okay, ok, I'll tell yeah the story.
When I first started my breeding program, raising Canadian Horses, I wanted an original name that no one else had so I thought I'd look in the Bible Concordance for any words related to horses. In my Concrodance, I found a list of Hebrew words and found the word ecbatana with an english definition that said something like; ancient Hebrew city, a place of many horses. I thought "cool", that kinda is catchy! Ecbatana Canadians sounds good...So Ecbatana Canadians was born. This was around the year 2000. I looked the word up on the Internet and found maybe one or two references to it, but not much about horses.
It wasn't until archaeologists went looking for this ancient Hebrew city that more information was found online. I found some information that suggested that Alexander the Great actually discovered this city in what is now Syria. He wrote about it in his journals, describing it as a place with many horses. I guess what he meant by that was that there was a very large cavalry (mounted soldiers). Alexander described the city as having a huge trench built around the city and down in this trench they hid their cavalry. The horses and soldiers were kept in this trench when the city was threatened by their enemies. Alexander liked this and noted it in his journaling because he was always looking for new battle strategies. Interesting eh?
Whats this about???
This blog will be about horses and how we have developed our one of a kind cross bred breeding program and all kinds of other good stuff...I have a diverse knowledge base on art, horses, animals and their behaviour, human behaviour (studied physchology and sociology) and I have years of experience working with youth at risk. I have the knowledge to train others in positions of power (teachers, parents, law enforcement) how to help kids become great adults and have a higher chance to excell in what ever it is they want to do. Kids need to be built up...gain their confidence and discover who they are.
My Personal Stuff...
I am a Christian and believe in an almighty God in charge of everything and have dedicated my life to serving Him. I am not perfect and have much to learn but would like to share what I have learned so far with you.
So this is your warning that I will occasionaly refer to God and my faith in this blog.
I have found a few cool websites and blogs that I will refer to along the way. I enjoy Christian Contemporary music, so will share my discoveries of new Christian musicians with you too.
I think this will be interesting for you and me...so enjoy!
